Lord Hill Farms Wrecks Couple’s Wedding

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer today has a story here, talking about how the people at Lord Hills Farms basically ruined a couple’s wedding day. The couple booked the venue a year ago, and were impressed by the site’s quiet atmosphere and rolling hills. Then, three weeks before their wedding date, the site informed the couple that there was also going to be a soccer tournament the same weekend of their wedding. This basically killed the atmosphere of the wedding, and ruined their pictures. There seems to be a litany of sins committed by the site; first, they did not inform the couple in a timely manner that such an event was going to take place. Second, they should have consulted with the couple before promising the space for the competing event. Third, they should have done far more than offer a mere credit on their site rental.

We’re going through booking locations and vendors now, for a wedding in June 2007. Three week’s notice wouldn’t be sufficient to re-schedule anything for a different wedding location or date. This was a horrible, horrible situation created by David Remlinger and his site management, and their efforts to correct the situation are pitiful and small.

Las Vegas Closes 24-Hour Marriage Office

It looks like people looking for an impulse wedding between the hours of midnight and 8 a.m. are going to have to wait a little bit longer. The Las Vegas marriage bureau is closing their 24-hour service desk, and will only be open from 8 a.m. until midnight.

Millionaire

I was sure I had at least bombed the Who Wants to be a Millionaire test. I made a few silly mistakes (Yes, of course George H.W. Bush was the last vice-president to become president and not Gerald Ford–duh! I was just reeeeeallly nervous and didn’t look at “H.W.”). Maybe Chris made up for it in his smartness or they did set the bar lower for engaged couples (sad :( !).

Well, whatever got us through I don’t care. I just know we were super excited when we were called because we really were the last two called for the group. Talk about suspenseful!

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

Well, on Friday, the Millionaire production team was in town to host auditions for “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” They were auditioning for the regular show, their Netflix Movie week, College, and “Play To Pay For Your Wedding” week. Carmel and I went to audition for basically every option we could. They had two tests, one for movie week and one for the general show. We pretty much bombed the movie week test, I think, or the bar was set pretty high to qualify. But we really wanted to get onto the wedding edition of Millionaire; when they told us that each member of the engaged couple had to qualify individually, this made us nervous. However, we both managed to pass the test! I’m not sure if they lowered the bar for engaged couples, or if we really passed though; their wording would seem to indicate that everyone needed the same score, but we didn’t feel particularly confident on our score.

They brought everyone in in groups of about 140. We managed to get in with the third group. There were I think at least two other engaged couples in the group we were in, but we were the only ones that qualified. They are supposed to be sending a postcard in the next couple of weeks to tell us if our interview went okay and we are going to enter the contestant pool, but they also said we might get a phone call before that, depending on when the Wedding week shows are being taped. Hopefully, being in the smaller set of engaged couples will give us a much better chance of getting on the show, so we’re crossing our fingers that we will get picked.
