Wedding Favor Redux: Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate

Starbucks just came out with new Hot Chocolate flavors  and they are totally reminding of us of our wedding favors. The hot chocolate flavors are their Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate, Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. If anyone remembers, our wedding favors were chocolates from Fran’s Chocolates: Salted Caramels and Hazelnut Crunch Truffles. I did try the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and it was unexpectedly good (if a little rich), which was the same thinking I had when I first had a salted caramel. I’m trying the Hazelnut next!

Sold!

Just got the call from the title company, we’re all closed on the transaction and the proceeds will be deposited into our account today.

After about 90 days on the market, it feels good to finally have sold. We spent the last week furiously packing and getting things put into storage, and cleaning the place up:
Condo

It felt a little weird, though, waiting in the empty place to hand off keys to our real estate agent. We didn’t do any modifications or upgrades (mainly because the existing appliances were pretty nice and we didn’t paint anything) so the condo looked pretty much like it did when we first looked at the place five years ago. This was our first place — the first place for us, together, and the first place I owned, rather than rented. It seems strange now that someone else is going to be living there. But, now that we have sold, we can look forward to finding our next place and we have the time to find something that will be great for our future.

Winner!

We went to PAX 2008 this weekend, and Sony was running competitions in their booth to win the new Buzz! game for the PlayStation 3 before it is released later this month.

Everyone played a round of “fastest fingers” — there were four rounds, each with four people, and the person with the highest score out of all the rounds would win the prize. The topic for each round was being selected from some of the various user-generated topics available online. One of the rounds was Nascar — not a good topic for people in Seattle. Luckily, neither Carmel nor I were selected for that round. There was another round after that, that people were pretty bad at. Carmel and I got selected for the third round. What would the topic be? Another Nascar-like topic would sink us, and we had the misfortune of being selected into the same round, so we’d be competing against each other for points. Fortunately, the topic was fast food. Everyone was getting the questions right, so it came down to who would answer the questions the fastest. Luckily, Carmel had the fastest fingers that day… I was slow on the draw. She scored a massive 2350 points!

Now we had to wait for the results of the final round. The next four people came up… and their topic was classic cartoon characters. This could be bad. However, the person writing the quiz focused a lot on the Hanna-Barbera characters from Space Ghost and the Herculoids — stuff I was familiar with from TV I grew up with, but the twenty-somethings playing this round didn’t have a chance. With them having bad rounds, Carmel won the prize!

Crossing fingers.

We have an offer on our place. We’re going through the steps to close right now, everything is in the buyer’s hands. The offer isn’t as much as we would have liked, but its important for us to move forward now.
