Canon 5D

Chris and I would like a 5D so we can make cute videos like this:

Riley sings “Don’t Stop Believing” from Ronnie Silos on Vimeo.

If we could have cute kids like these later (whenever we have kids), that would be cool, too. But for now the camera would be awesome!

House!

Wow, we haven’t updated in a while. We bought a house about… five weeks ago now (we closed around 4/6). We’ve been living in the house for about three weeks, and we just got our appliances all installed, so its starting to feel like we’re actually “living” there now. Its in the Eastgate area of Bellevue, on a cul-de-sac. We’re pretty excited.

Sorry no updates lately.

We’ve been looking at houses.

Omakase…and Candy Sushi

We went to one of our favorite Japanese restaurants Nishino to take advantage of special pricing on their Omakase meal (your courses are the chef’s choice). Since it was Halloween, the waitstaff and some of the sushi chefs were having a costume contest and you voted for your favorite. We voted for the waitress dressed as a Shrimp Tempura Hand Roll (it looked like it was all hadcrafted out of fabric: black shiny material for the seaweed, shrimp tempura tail on top of her head, asparagus, cucumber, and a picked ginger corsage on her wrist!)

We had a really delicious meal, my favorite was white tuna sashimi salad and for dessert was mochi (green tea, pumpkin and white chocolate raspberry), my favorite flavor white chocolate and raspberry mochi. But one of the most interesting things at the restaurant was “candy sushi” that was available for everyone on a plate up front. Sorry for the poor quality picture taken from my phone but hopefully you get the idea.

-The rice was made out of Marshmallow Rice Krispie Treat

-Nigiri topped with “fish” –Swedish Fish!

-Fruit Roll-Ups fo nori

-Jelly beans for tobiko

-Licorice for the vegetables

Pixel wedding design.

Interesting wedding design, carrying through the pixel motif throughout. I particularly like the use of blank letterpress to do a pixel art embossing on the invitation.

Wedding Favor Redux: Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate

Starbucks just came out with new Hot Chocolate flavors  and they are totally reminding of us of our wedding favors. The hot chocolate flavors are their Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate, Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. If anyone remembers, our wedding favors were chocolates from Fran’s Chocolates: Salted Caramels and Hazelnut Crunch Truffles. I did try the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and it was unexpectedly good (if a little rich), which was the same thinking I had when I first had a salted caramel. I’m trying the Hazelnut next!

Hey somebody took the stuffing out of the catnip pillow! Who did that? No, ignore the thing sticking out from under my tummy--its nothing.

Getting listed…and other things

Ok, looks like our condo should officially be listed on the market soon…and then we’ll be on our way to buying a house. Even though we own this place, the fact that it was a condo made it still seem very apartment-like. Seems strange to be preparing to buy an actual house. If anyone has any tips, please pass them our way.

It looks like the trip to Vietnam is officially ON (yippee!)! I just went to orientation last weekend and now get to read through the 50+ page handbook for the trip, get visa and shots, etc.

If anyone was wondering, our Wii Fit that Chris so diligently obtained is still in it’s box–so yes we are totally lame. But this doesn’t mean we haven’t played the Fit yet. We got to try it out at the Folklife Festival and got a free pair of Wii Fit socks (oooh socks!). But in the meantime, we amuse ourselves with blog posts like this that Shannon fowarded to me…ah the beauty of this thing–see if you jogged around an actual park instead of the privacy of your own home, you would probably get weird looks if you ate cookies at the same time.
